Dr Maria Pearse MBChB, FRANZCR trained at the University of Otago’s Medical School in Dunedin and currently works as a Consultant Radiation Oncologist at both Auckland City Hospital (public) and Auckland Radiation Oncology (private).
In March 2003, Dr Pearse was accepted as a Fellow of The Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (Radiation Oncology specialty). In 2004, Dr Pearse took up a Clinical Fellowship in Radiation Oncology at the Toronto Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre in Canada. Since her return to NZ, Dr Pearse has worked at Auckland City Hospital and Auckland Radiation Oncology.
Dr Pearse has a general interest in oncology including sub-specialty interests in the following cancers: breast, urology, gastrointestinal, skin, prostate brachytherapy and palliative radiation oncology.
Dr Pearse is an Examiner for the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR). This is the examining and accrediting body for the Radiation Oncology specialty. Dr Pearse also is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Oncology at The University of Auckland’s Medical School.
Dr Pearse is active in the field of cancer research and has a number of international peer-reviewed publications. She is also the recipient of a number of research grants and awards.
Dr Pearse brings to the Foundation her extensive postgraduate knowledge and experience in today’s state-of-the-art Radiation Oncology practice - clinical and academic.
