Memorials
For many people expressing their sympathy by making an In Memoriam donation to The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation at times of bereavement is a thoughtful and fitting tribute to a loved one.
You can specify that your In Memoriam donation is a general contribution to The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation or that it be directed to an area of our work such as research.
In Memoriam donations are acknowledged to both the donor and the bereaved family, although the amount of your donation remains strictly confidential.

Bequests
An increasing number of New Zealand women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Future generations of these women and their families will benefit from the gift of a charitable bequest. For some people, giving through their estate is the only time they will be able to give a significant gift to an organisation which may have helped them or someone they know during their lifetime.
A charitable bequest is a gift specified in your Will and gives you the opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing important and vital work of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. You can designate a certain sum of money, a particular asset or a portion of your estate. Whatever form your gift takes it produces the same result – better outcomes for New Zealand women.
Your solicitor can give you more information about bequests, but in general the types of bequests are:
- Specific Bequests – gifts of particular articles of property, such as houses or land, shares, cars, furniture, jewellery etc give to a particular person or organisation
- General Bequests – usually sums of money or percentages of value of your estate given to persons or organisations
- Residual Bequests – what is remaining of your estate after the specific and general bequests have been distributed. In your Will you can nominate this figure.
