During the Ninth Ever Annual Blondes Tennis Classic, held over Auckland Anniversary weekend, the Auckland chapter of the Kournikova Fan Club raised a huge $15,000 for The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation (NZBCF).

The annual tennis event, which took place in Whitford from 30 to 31 January, saw the 70 players don an item of pink clothing and mandatory blonde wig for the tournament.

The club raised the money through auctioning off various homeware items like hammocks and a 7 piece outdoor furniture set, as well as a number of highly sought after items including a "My Other Girlfriend Is Anna Kournikova" sticker, a flying monkey and a talking bottle opener.

NZBCF Executive Trustee Heather Shotter was delighted to hear how well the fan club did.

"It is thanks to the support of community fundraisers like the Kournikova Fan Club that The Foundation is able to continue working on survivorship of breast cancer, risk reduction from the disease and focusing on meeting the needs of New Zealand women now," she said.
