Pink Ribbon Day Street Appeal
The Pink Ribbon is the international symbol of breast cancer awareness and trademarked to the Foundation in New Zealand. Pink Ribbon Day is our nationwide street appeal and was held on Friday 12th October in 2007. Volunteer Area Co-ordinators and collectors were out on the streets gathering donations in return for a pink ribbon – some collected for a few hours and others enjoyed participating for the day.
Volunteers are essential to the success of Pink Ribbon Day and the ongoing lifesaving activities of the Foundation. This year we had 250 area co-ordinators based throughout NZ & over 6,000 volunteers who helped on the day!
Would you like to help collect vital funds for the fight against breast cancer and be involved in 2008?
If you are able to spare a few hours of your time to collect on Friday 10th October 2008 or would like to get more involved with the organisation of the Street Appeal in your local area, we would love to hear from you! Register your interest in becoming a Pink Ribbon Area Co-ordinator or Pink Ribbon Collector.
Pink Pin/Wrist Band Campaign
The Foundation’s Pink Enamel Ribbons, Pink Fabric Ribbons and Pink Ribbon Wrist Bands were available for sale throughout October from major retail outlets, community and sporting groups together with workplaces nationwide.

Dove Pink Star Walk
Check out the photos from the 2007 Dove Pink Star Walk
Back after a hugely successful first year, the second annual Dove Pink Star Walk took place on Saturday 6th October 2007 beneath a starlit Auckland sky and was bigger, better and pinker than ever before.
In aid of The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, this fun 5km charity walk was open to men, women and children of all ages and was held in the Auckland Domain.
Participants were once again be encouraged to get into the pink spirit by decorating and wearing their very own Dove wings - and to make it easier a pattern of the wings was included in every event registration pack. It was a star studded night with prizes for the best pink outfit, goody bags, a spectacular pink fireworks display and entertainment to cheer people on to the finish line.

The Topp Twins Recovery Tour - October 2007
New Zealand’s favourite twins Lynda and Jools Topp undertook their first National tour since Jools was diagnosed
with Breast Cancer last year. The Recovery Tour was staged in October to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month,
with the Topp Twins donating a percentage of proceeds to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
The show featured the Best of the Topp Twins from the last 25 years. The live show also introduced new songs and hilarious
new comedy from the Bowling Ladies – Mavis and Lorna – who appeared in the Topp’s last TV series. Best of friends since
meeting at the Crematorium (their husbands were cremated on the same day), Mavis and Lorna spend their time travelling to
bowling tournaments throughout New Zealand. Keen gardeners, Mavis and Lorna are always on the scout for new cuttings to
take home and root.
The Topp Twins will also present rising new star, Cameron Luxton, who is only 12 years old but already charming audiences
with his mature voice and stage presence. Cameron was the Junior Overall Winner at the 2006 Gold Guitars and has performed with
the Topp Twins at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Australia.
The Topp Twins Recovery Tour was a celebration of life, with love and laughter - the perfect tonic Jools credits for her
return to health. Jools would like to extend her thanks for the enormous support and encouragement she received during her battle
with Cancer. Says Jools, “I’m looking forward to getting back on the road, the last year has been a long hard challenge but I am
now ready for a new one - making sure NZ audiences get a great night out.
