Communicating Nationwide

Communication is a vital part of the everyday focus of the Foundation.

Whether it is through our FREE nationwide seminars and workshops, fundraising and awareness events, media comments on issues of importance, or the thousands of free resources we give away each year, we are in the business of imparting important, accurate and up-to-date information that can help save lives.

To help us ‘get the word out’ we use a variety of media.

Local radio stations and newspapers help promote our nationwide Breast Health Roadshows. Comment and written articles are often offered to, and sought by magazines, newspapers, newsletters, radio, television and internet sites on a wide range of breast health and breast cancer issues.

An annual radio awareness campaign imparts key life saving messages, with an 0800 number available for follow-up enquiries.

On top of this, ‘word of mouth’ cannot be underestimated as people build an awareness of what the Foundation does based on its daily activities up and down the country in large and small communities.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – in New Zealand and around the world.

Although the work of the Foundation continues all year round, October is a key month for raising funds e.g. Pink Ribbon Day street appeal and building on our education and awareness messages.

Radio, television, print and the internet are used to highlight the facts about breast cancer, the Foundation’s activities, and how the public’s support makes a positive difference.

The support of the public, which includes the media, is vital in helping to make the October campaign a success.

The Foundation is committed to the fight against breast cancer but we cannot do it alone and we continue to need the public’s support.
